On Friday, August 5th, the Tragically Hip will perform their last show in Winnipeg.
It was revealed, back in May, that lead singer, Gord Downie, had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. This is the band’s last tour. As the band makes it’s way across Canada, playing 12 sold out shows, local radio stations are doing what they can to say thank you to Gord Downie and the band. Here in Winnipeg, we did something unique.
Alexandra Hasenpflug is a local artist who specializes in synesthesia paintings. Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. We had Alexandra come into the station to paint what she experiences when she listens to The Tragically Hip’s Courage.
