SLASH UNVEILS TOURING BAND
• Legendary Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash has unveiled the lineup of his touring band, which will take to the road this spring in support of Slash's self-titled debut solo album. Joining previously announced vocalist Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge will be rhythm guitarist Bobby Schneck, who's toured with Weezer and Green Day, Alice Cooper and Vince Neil drummer Brent Fitz, and Big Wreck bass player Dave Henning. The band's first confirmed gig is at Ohio's Rock On The Range festival in May, with more dates to be confirmed soon.

PINK FLOYD SUING RECORD LABEL

• The members of Pink Floyd are suing record label EMI in a London court over online royalty payments and the sale of single tracks. The band's last contract with EMI was negotiated more than 10 years ago, before the boom of online music sales. "It was unclear whether record companies would be selling direct to the consumer or through retailers," Pink Floyd's lawyer, Robert Howe, said at a hearing, according to Business Week. Apple's iTunes "wasn’t launched in the U.K. until 2004. These negotiations were taking place six years before that."
• Pink Floyd’s contract with EMI says that albums are to be sold as a whole with tracks in a specified order, and not as singles. Howe said that stipulation should include the band’s music that is sold online. However, digital retailers have been selling Pink Floyd tracks as singles.

TOOL TAKING TIME BETWEEN ALBUMS

• Although Tool singer Maynard James Keenan is busy with other ventures like his vineyards and his rock cabaret act Puscifer, he did hint to us in a new interview that he's done some writing for the next Tool album. But Keenan also added that he's perfectly comfortable taking a long time between projects. AUDIO: "Some new band, their first two records are the ones that are the freshest, 'cause they've had all their lives to write them. And then that third record ends up being all about the inside of a bus and something that happened backstage 'cause what else have they seen? And I've pretty much tried my best to avoid that album by taking time between writing projects to kind of absorb life in general -- have some experiences, read a few books, get into a different headspace and then wait 'til the time is right."
