Truly living up to their mantra “Own What You Create”, The Peg Authentic, a streetwear and lifestyle brand designed in Winnipeg, did something surprising for a brand, that until today, had primarily been sold (quite successfully, I might add) online. They opened a bricks and mortar shop on Corydon Avenue.
You recognize their clothing in an instant. Bold text between two red bars. Born out of a collaboration with West Coast tastemakers Vancity Originals, The Peg streetwear has been available to savvy Winnipeggers for years, both online and at the now extinct TUB (The Urban Bakery). Quietly building their brand over four years, they often make local shopping ‘best of’ lists.
With demand for their comfy casual tees and sweatshirts continually growing, the opportunity arose for The Peg Authentic to put down community roots in a physical way. Thus, their flagship boutique at 807 Corydon was born. Inspired by the makers and stories of our city, the shop’s white walls will soon be adorned with local art.
They just launched a kids line featuring tees and sweatshirts for toddlers and onesies for babies.
Owner Stephen Dubienski says that new product will be launched in store before being available online.
The Grand Opening took place today and regular store hours will be Tuesday-Friday 11-7 and 10-4 on Saturdays.
