This Friday through Sunday Winnipeg meat-lovers can get a taste of authentic Southern BBQ at RibFest. Enjoy finger lickin’ good food and live entertainment at the Festival stage at The Forks all weekend long. This FREE event is a tasty fundraising initiative brought to you by the Rotary Club of Winnipeg. The goal of the 2017 fest is to raise $20, 000 for two local youth organizations: CanU and NYESS.
Three Canadian Champion ribbers will vie for your vote with their mouth-watering sauces and smoky techniques. Sample fare from Crabby’s BBQ Shack, Texas Rangers and Silver Bullet Bar-B-Q. Vote for your favourite ribs and sauces with a QR code available at the event.
Have you seen the literal mops they use to slather on those sauces?! And the way they cut up those racks? Is anyone else getting hungry right now??
Pork ribs, beef ribs, pulled pork and bbq chicken mmmm. Prices range from $23 for a full rack, $13 for a half chicken or $9 for a third of a rack, in case you’ve saving room to try all three. You can also save yourself a couple bucks by printing off this coupon. There will also be local food trucks on site for the picky eater in your family. Plus the whole area is licensed so you’ll be able to enjoy an ice-cold Farmery brew with your meal.
The stage will feature 18 musical acts from Winnipeg, Brandon and Portage la Prairie in a wide range of styles. There will also be a kid’s zone with activities, games and entertainment for the little ones. And since this is a fundraising event there are some great prizes to be won in the raffle and 50/50 draw.
Come down and try not to drool! Hours are 12pm-10pm Friday, 11am-10pm Saturday and 11am-7pm on Sunday. If you want to know which ribs are best, CJOB and POWER 97 will be hosting the Media Rib Judging Friday night at 6 pm. The taster’s choice winner will be announced Sunday at 5.
