Winnipeg is getting a new, giant sign at The Forks just in time for the Canada Summer Games. Mostly for decoration but also maybe for the odd person who has no idea what city they’re in.
The sign will be 52-feet and will light up in a couple of colours.
Other cities like Toronto have signs just like this one and people always take photos with them, so it’s gotta be a good investment. Right..?
The sign will cost the city $120,000 and will be installed on Wednesday near the Festival Stage.
Its inaugural lighting goes down on Saturday, July 29. It will remain lit throughout the duration of the Games. No word on what’s happening with it afterward. Money well spent!
