To celebrate Canada 150 you knew the Royal Canadian Mint would put out some interesting commemorative coins.
Actually there’s a whole slew of them. Most of them are silver coins worth between $70 and $160 and they all GLOW IN THE DARK!
Now unless you’re a die-hard collector, you probably won’t come across most of these beauties, but there are also collections of coins offered in a set that may find their way into circulation.
These sets include a very cool toonie with a picture of the aurora borealis aka northern lights.
Already the source of some ridicule in other countries, owing to its unusual name (but c’mon it makes sense if a loonie is $1 a $2 coins is obvs a two-nie), such a toonie, must’ve made its way down to the US because it caught the attention of Conan who promptly made a funny video about it.
Enjoi! Fair warning – it’s a bit of a groaner…
