Winnipeg is a unique place... for a lot of reasons. In the summer, after months of being cooped up, Winnipeggers like to let loose. They embrace the outdoors with gusto and often take their pets with them or interact with animals in interesting ways.
Just the other day, I was driving along Gateway Road when on the bike path, I spied a man on a bicycle, with a parrot on his shoulder! That must be one well trained bird!
Then I was reminded of the couple that used to walk around Osborne Village with their pet snakes around their shoulders – I don’t spend as much time in the Village as I used to – are they still around?
And a jogger happened across a giant snapping turtle in Assiniboine Park the other day!
