The ticks are bad this year! And if you like to spend time outdoors in Manitoba during the summer you’re probably going to come across a few.
Did you hear about the hikers on the Mantario Trail in the Whiteshell who estimated they collected about 20 ticks each every 10-15 minutes? Yuck.
Wood ticks creep me out. They’re like tiny vampires that want to feed off you. Just thinking about them gives me the creepy-crawlies and I am lucky to say I’ve never had to deal with a tick. Good thing too cause I wouldn’t know where to start.
But thanks to this video from a local researcher, I now know what to do.
And if you’re one of those people who’s actually into bugs, University of Manitoba tick expert Kateryn Rochon has more videos that you can check out.
