They’re calling it “the show that can’t be cancelled”
One of my favourite shows is coming back… again. And I am so excited!
The entire cast of Arrested Development has reportedly signed on for a fifth season that will be ready next year on Netflix.
I can’t believe it was almost 15 years ago that the series first aired. This show introduced me to Will Arnett and Tony Hale among others. They are the reason I now watch other shows; like Jessica Walters on Archer or that time Alia Shawkat was on Broad City. The show’s original run was a critical success but didn’t do too hot in the ratings department. I always figured it was because it was too smart and too quick.
Arrested Development jokes still abound at my house (Taste the Happy Michael!) and a good Bluth gif still gets me every time.
And in typical tongue-in-cheek fashion, series creator Mitchell Hurwitz joked that now was the perfect time to ‘Save Our Bluths‘: “In talks with Netflix we all felt that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business ― and their desperate abuses of power ― are really underrepresented on TV these days,” he said in a statement.
Ahem. Right. On. The. Nose.
No release date has been set and Netflix hasn’t said yet if they’ll release all the new episodes at once, but y’know, it’s Netflix, so probably.
If you’re a fan and aren’t following them on twitter, you should, because it’s freaking hilarious.
