This time of year isn’t exactly know for pranks. I mean peace on earth and good will doesn’t exactly translate into ‘good-natured joke at someone else’s expense’.
Yet, if you go back a couple centuries, pranks are actually a part of many holiday traditions. I mean where do you think the whole idea of a lump of coal in your stocking comes from?
Last year I wrote a whole blog post on the Sinister Sidekicks of St. Nick just for kicks. Check it out if you have time. The whole evolution of Santa Clause as we know him is pretty interesting.
But it wasn’t until I got a new phone and had to unload all the photos from my old phone that I was reminded of a most epic holiday prank from a few years back…
I was working at a radio and TV station in Ottawa with a lady who liked to take multiple warm weather vacations per winter. Sure we were a little jealous, but seriously if you’re going to vacate the office for weeks at a time and leave the rest of us to wallow in winter, don’t rub it in.
Her team pulled the most epic prank, by wrapping her entire office in gift paper. Every. Last. Thing.
So what about you? Have you ever pulled a Christmas prank? Looking for ideas for when the morning show is away… Shhh, don’t tell Philly, Joe or Randy!
