Foo Fighters might be on a much needed hiatus (I say that from the outsiders perspective, they were a little too overexposed), but that doesn’t mean the guys aren’t keeping busy. In fact their drumer Taylor Hawkins is about put out a solo album on November 11th.
It might sound crazy, but the idea of a drummer putting out a solo album seems like a bit of an odd idea. How does a drummer’s solo album work? Is it just a bunch of drum solos with other percussion overdubbed? Have you ever heard of a drummer putting out a solo album? Actually Peter Criss from KISS put one out, but lets just not even talk about that train wreck.
Having said that, if the album is anything like this first offering, it’ll be a pleasant surprise. The song has elements of The Steve Miller Band, with some vocals that sound very similar to I Mother Earth’s singer Brian Byrne. Take a listen for yourself:
