Remember a few months ago when the ‘illegal dumping’ problem came up? Well since then, some city councilors involved with a pilot project have installed cameras in six different locations around the city to catch these dumpers, and 15 investigations have come from the camera evidence.
There’s been some old beds found, TV cabinets, tree trimmings, even an inflatable pool or two! And yes, people just go ahead and dump this stuff wherever they please. The thought is that people are dumping these things mostly because they’re doing renovations. Just get a bin!
The plan is to catch these dumpers and charge them, which will be a big chunk of change.
Fines for people caught illegally dumping range between $600-$1,200 and increase to between $1,200-$4,000 for businesses. Worth it? Probably not…
My question is, how shameless are these people just dumping garbage in fields? And not really even garbage, like, unwanted furniture. That’s bold!
