Most artists have been OK with people using their phones at shows, until now.
Alicia Keys, Dave Chappelle and a few other performers have started using a gadget called “Yondr”.
It’s pretty much a soft phone case that’s around the size of a sock. All concert-goers have to put their phone in Yondr upon entry, which will rpevent you from using your phone in the performance area.If you need to check messages or make a call you can take your phone outside of the phone free zone and tap a disc that will allow you to remove your phone. You would then have to put it back on if you want to re-enter the concert.
It seems a little confusing, I know. But it seems like a good idea, especially for comedy shows. The problem is, of course, after the show people will get on their phones, take to social media, and probably get the performer trending on Facebook will all of the complaints about no phones.
