There’s a Cat Cafe coming to Winnipeg in the West Kildonan area next month. The cafe will be called Miss J.La’s Fur Babies Cat Cafe and Adoption Centre, but Jennifer Laferriere, the owner, says it will be known as Fur Babies.
The plan is to populate the cafe with about 10 cats, which will all be on loan from a rescue centre in Winnipeg.
People will pay $10 for an hour in the cafe. I assume this just gets you in to the cafe and if you’d like a coffee or something it’s a separate charge.
Hot and cold drinks, as well as desserts, will be available, and there’s plans for cat yoga in the future. But what the hell is cat yoga?..
Cat Cafes are actually pretty popular across Canada and around the world. At last count, there were 255 cafes in 37 countries and 143 cities. Basically it’s an extra way to get people to fall in love with – and later adopt – cats.
The place is set to open in July at 1099 Kingsbury near Watson Street.
But seriously, what’s Cat Yoga?
