Winnipeg Transit riders may never have to worry about a dead phone again, that is if councillors go through with an idea brought up at city hall Tuesday.
One committee is looking at the possibility of a pilot project that would put phone chargers installed at one or more of the city’s busier bus stops.
“Running out of a charge on your phone is a big issue for a lot of people,” said Coun. Jeff Browaty , “So being able to get a little juice to check when your next schedule’s coming… it’s a good thing to have.”
Dave Wardrop, Transit Director, says early research has brought up some concerns like how to make sure the phone’s data is kept safe while charging and whether or not transit riders are waiting at stops long enough to make the chargers necessary in the first place.
Plus, let’s face it, it’s hard to have nice things at bus stops in Winnipeg…
