The province says plenty of campsites are still available and campers can check availability on their preferred spot online.
Campsite bookings are at 29 per cent right now, which shows a nine per cent increase over last year’s bookings. Last May, quite a few campers cancelled their campsite reservations after the rain and cold weather. That’s the May long weekend we all know and love, but we’ll take sunshine and mid twenties for this year. Right? Yeah we’ll have to deal with it.
There are currently no provincial burn bans in place for the weekend, which is kind of mind-boggling, but great! Some municipalities still have burn bans in place.
Provincial parks also have a ban on alcohol over the long weekend so, sorry guys, if you want to drink you’ll have to camp out in the back yard. Or just outside the entrance to the Provincial park
The Mantario hiking trail remains closed due to the wildfires in the area.
