Fresh off a 5-13 season, the Blue Bombers have made significant improvements to their team in the first few hours of free agency in the CFL.
The biggest signing is former BC Lions running back Andrew Harris. The Winnipeg born graduate of Oak Park High School played in all 18 games for the Lions last season and led the league in yards from scrimmage with 1523, and was the CFL’s second leading rusher with 1039. Harris has only missed 5 games during his 6 seasons and has career stats of 4259 rushing yards, 2639 receiving yards, and 45 touchdowns. He was also named the Outstanding Canadian of the 2011 Grey Cup win over Winnipeg.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed former Hamilton Tiger Cats Placekicker and Punter Justin Medlock. Medlock is a two time CFL Eastern Conference All Star and was a priority for the Blue Bombers on CFL Free Agent day after the team announced they were not going to re-sign Lirim Hajrullahu. Medlock was good on 42 of 47 FG attempts in 2015 and sports an all time league best career mark of 182/208 (87.5%) during two stints with the Ticats as well as spending time with Toronto and Edmonton, along with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed former Ottawa and Saskatchewan Defensive Lineman Keith Shologan. The 6-2, 290 pound native of Edmonton had an outstanding 2015 season with the RedBlacks that included a career best 7 Quarterback Sacks.
Former BC Lions backup running back Pascal Lochard has reportedly agreed to a two year deal with the Blue Bombers.
