It’s official, the Winnipeg Jets have resigned Dustin Byfuglien to a five-year, $38 million extension. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.
Byfuglien is 13th in league scoring among NHL Defencemen with 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points. He had 4-3-7 in the final 4 games of the team’s recently completed h0mestand before having his points streak snapped in Saturday’s 4-2 win at Colorado.
Byfuglien was asked about his desire to stay in Winnipeg. “You never want to leave home,” is how Byfuglien began. “I’ve been here long enough. my family’s been here. Had two kids here. It’s somewhere you don’t want to leave.”
