The same way winter is an inevitable part of life in Canada, it seems this was also an inevitable idea in Canada: Uber for snow plows, as it were.
Since it – evidently – makes no sense for municipalities to budget accordingly for snow removal, it seems citizens must take things into their own hands, or rented hands, and hire an uber-type service to clear snow for them. Enter Ottawa-based SnowMowr. Much like Uber, an app connects smartphone users with the nearest available operator and handle payments automatically. It launched January 6th, in six Ontario cities. Clearing a driveway will cost $35 to $75, depending on size. And SnowMowr taking an unspecified percentage of the transaction.
It competes against at least two other startups: Ottawa-based easyplow and Toronto-based Eden App. Easyplow plans to go national soon. So, since it’s coming to Winnipeg, would you use it?
