National Geographic Traveler released their Best Trips 2016 list and named Winnipeg one out of 20 go-now destinations for 2016.
A few of the other destinations mentioned were:
- Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil
- Danube River
- Glasgow, Scotland
- Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
- Hokkaido, Japan
The National Geographic Traveler, which labeled Winnipeg as the Little Spark on the Prairie, says that what made our city stand out were our summer festivals, our music venues, our multiculturalism, our artisans and our pride for our “notoriously bone-chilling” winter temperatures.
The article also made mention of St. Boniface, the Festival du Voyageur, Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Exchange District and our new Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.
