Every year there’s a contest for Canada’s Top Comic. This year was the contest’s sixth year, and the second year Winnipegger Jordan Welwood has been in it.
Each contestant needed to send in an audition tape then, a few from each city were chosen to participate in live auditions in eight different cities across Canada. Three finalists were chosen from each city, and from there it was all online voting to get the comics to the finals in Toronto at Just For Laughs 42.
Last night, the finals happened, and Jordan Welwood managed to snag second place; even after he took the bullet and was up first of eight comics!
Jordan will be headed back to Toronto in 2016 for a show at Just For Laughs 42 and also, to Montreal to film a TV spot at the original Just For Laughs. Also, last night’s performance scored him an opening spot for Pete Holmes tonight. Check out some of Jordan’s campaigning below and his audition.
