From April 1st 2015 to June 30th 2015, Winnipeg police issued 40,956 photo radar tickets: Almost as many tickets issued for all of 2012.
In the first half of 2015, 63,214 tickets were issued, which is the highest number of tickets the WPS has ever handed out in a six-month period. It’s inevitable, this year will be the year with the most tickets issued since the photo radar program started in 2003.
The previous record was in 2008 when people were getting photo radar tickets during off-hours in construction zones. This was a flaw on the city and province’s part because there was no proper signage. That year 118,692 tickets were issued.
By the time 2009 came around, the number of photo radar tickets fell to 66,383 and went back into the 40,000 range after that.
