Seven weeks after Harry Shearer tweeted that he was no longer going to voice Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Smithers and others on The Simpsons it looks like he’s agreed to come back.
Shearer said his departure had nothing to do with money (the main cast members are being paid over $300,000 per episode). He said the contract FOX offered him didn’t allow him to continue with his other projects.
FOX said they were fully prepared for Shearer’s characters (he’s also the voice for Principal Skinner, Lenny, Otto, Kent Brockman, Dr. Hibbert and Reverend Lovejoy) to continue with different actors but they’re happy an agreement was reached.
Production on the 27th season of The Simpsons has already started but FOX had some leftover episodes from season 26 so Shearer’s absence will hardly be noticed.
Twenty seven seasons seems like a lot doesn’t it? All of the cast have signed on for season 28 as well.
